Choosing to SEE by Mary Beth Chapman

"I could only see a few feet in front of me. If I could see any further than that, the journey ahead would be too scary. But He was showing me all that I needed, just a few steps at a time…giving me little glimmers of grace…if I would choose to SEE them." --Mary Beth Chapman

I've never gotten goose bumps and had the hairs stand up on the back of my neck stand up when reading a Prologue before...Beth Moore did an excellent job ushering readers into Mary Beth Chapman's book Choosing to SEE. As I went from chapter to chapter, I was learning valuable life lessons while connecting with a fellow mother going through the same day to day tasks as we all do. No, I am not married to a popular christian musician but I am a mom who struggles with the every day tasks of raising children and running a home. How many of us moms can also say as she said in chapter 10 that "Sometimes I would just stop, sit, and cry." ? I lifted my eyes after reading this and said "We're all the same!" (Us moms) This book takes readers on a journey through Mary Beth's and her family's life and all the exciting and tragic events they experienced. Thank you for having the courage to write this book Mary Beth. I also enjoyed the song lyrics from many of Steven's songs inserted into different chapters. It brings new meaning to songs I have sung and heard many times. As life happened, he wrote. It is beautiful. Adoption is a major theme throughout this entire book. At first the thought scared Mary Beth and this is what she said in Chapter 12 - Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. "God! I prayed. "I don't know that I've ever been on a journey where I really needed faith before. I could always see the path fine. But with this, I truly don't know where the road will lead. I can only see enough by Your light to take the next little step. And then the next..." The Chapman's have greatly influenced their friends and many others to reach out into the world of adoption. To further the cause, they started an organization called Show Hope and through that organization have connected hundreds of children around the world with families who love them. www.showhope.org
I learned. I laughed. I cried.
