"New" Fall Wreath

~Welcome Fall~

Hubby painted the front door black this summer.  We've only lived here 10 years, so that's not bad eh?  For the first few years, there were other projects that took priority.  But I have to admit, it was me dragging my feet on the color.  Decisions are hard sometimes.  ;)  Once it was done, all I could picture was a beautiful colorful fall wreath welcoming everyone who came to the door.

Two years ago, I didn't have time to make a fall wreath (nor did I have a beautiful black door).  I went to the Dollarama and bought 2 leaf garlands and wrapped them around an old grapevine wreath.  I slapped it on the front door and called it DONE!  Last year, a fall wreath still wasn't right up at the top of my priority list.  However, I took a narrow piece of burlap shrub wrap and made a bow...slapped it on the same wreath and put it on the "still white door". (pictured above)
Come on...someone tell me you've done the same thing.  Please???

Enter September 2012...the front of our house has a beautifully painted door (and shutters too, btw).  I knew I MUST do better.  So I picked up these berry picks at Michaels.

(Please excuse the ripe banana)

I picked up a box of gourds from my favorite Home Hardware store,
and a mesh bag of pumpkins at Michaels.

It was as easy as using the glue gun to attach the berry picks,
 gourds, and pumpkins.

I think this beautiful fall door was definitely worth the wait.  Don't you?

Keepin it real,
Tanya  ;)

  2. I always thought a black front door is so dramatic and wreaths/swags/garlands, etc. just pop against it. Wreath looks nice and full of autumn goodies. Great job. xo

  3. I have gone the 'easy' route too Tanya. You made a beautiful wreath out of the old one and it was so easy! I like your black door. We hope to get a new door/entrance system next summer and I've been toying with painting it black but we also will have a victorian style screen door over it (that'll be new too) so should the screen door be painted a different colour like white? 8. That is beautiful! I know exactly what you're talking about. I've been trying to decide about a color for our front door for 7 years. You've sure encouraged me to go black. Your wreath is so lush and beautiful. laurie

  9. First of all I love your black door. I love painted doors period. We usually paint our door red, but I've been reading a lot of decorating magazines and blogs and black is THE color.

Love how your wreath looks as well as admire than you can put it together yourself. Me, I have to find them pre-made or put something simple on a stick wreath. You are an inspiration.
