My father-in-law sells the hay off his farmland to another farmer. This farmer was busy cutting hay all around our vegetable garden. I like when the hay is high. As the breeze passes over, it would seem almost like it is waving at us.
Please forgive me as I gush over these vegetables. We are loving our garden. It has been many years since we have had a garden, and NEVER has it grown this well. Please grab a cold drink and come on a tour with me.

I planted regular onions, Spanish onions, and bunching onions.
The bunching onions are the ones with the blossom buds.

We planted a row of yellow beans, and a row of green beans.
I am very impatiently waiting for some blossoms on these plants.
This row of potatoes belongs exclusively to My Handyman.
I'm not sure what we will do with him if they aren't successful.
He's quite excited about them.

This is the very beginning of pumpkin vines.
I have three zucchini plants.
My intention is to use them when they are very small.
No baseball bats for me.
If I become overrun with them,
I will remember what I read recently on the blog, Thy Hand Hath Provided.

Wow Tanya, The garden looks great. So excited for you. Once you have had a garden, it is something you want to do every year even though it is a lot of work and not always as successful as we might like. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteUse a veggie peeler on your zucchini and substitute it for pasta in an italian dish...just read this today and I have 4 plants ;) says to go heavy on the garlic and savory seasonings as the Z's are fairly mild in flavor. So going to try this!!!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks really good Tanya! You must be having the right weather this year. My mother loved beet greens but I've never tried them. I'd like to know what you think of them and how you prepare them. I think mum put butter and vinegar on them.?? We had a gorgeous long weekend here - perfect weather!

ReplyDeleteYour garden looks fantastic! Everything is so well tended and not a weed in sight! I predict those potatoes will be a great success--the plants look very hardy and good! I seem to remember my grandfather using a hoe to hill more dirt around the plants when the shoots got to be about that height. I bet you will have more produce than you can use!--Min
